Volunteer Coordinator

Job Description:
• To coordinate All volunteers for events and day to day operations of the Foodbank an ensure that all essential positions are filled
• Coordinate all third party events and ensure that proper signage, collection bins and volunteers are arranged
• Recruitment and retention of volunteers through volunteer appreciation, volunteer events and marketing into the community
• Ensure all volunteers are trained in the appropriate positions
• Volunteer screening and the placement of appropriate volunteers for appropriate positions
• Track monthly volunteer hours and prepare a report to be included in the monthly board package
• Conduct and organize tours of interested groups and organizations
• Create and market opportunities for larger groups ( both corporate and schools ) to come to the food bank to volunteer
• Prepare timely correspondence involving volunteers
• Create an atmosphere of support and unity among staff and volunteers
• Act as relief for other staff members (example: holiday, sick leave relief )
• All other duties as per the direction of the Executive Directors

Requirements:
• Understanding of poverty reduction strategies including Housing First approach
• Understanding of our Mission & Vision and a willingness to work as a team to achieve this goal.
• A valid driver’s license
• Criminal record check including vulnerable sector check
• Child intervention check
